This visual research project presents an artistic research project based on visual materials originating from corporate publications of the 1980s. The images—many of which derive from period clip art—have been recontextualized, juxtaposed, and partially altered through collage and recombination.
Through their displacement and proximity to one another, the images are used to construct alternative readings that diverge from their original illustrative or persuasive intent. Meaning arises from the relationships created between images, rather than from any individual image in isolation.
All visual material is presented within a transformative artistic and analytical context. The use of these images is limited, non-commercial, and subordinate to the project’s critical and interpretive purpose. Copyright in the original materials remains with the respective rights holders.
